Leprechaun is so terrible it's good. The narrative, acting, and special effects are all ridiculous. All of it comes together to make a delightful movie. Warwick Davis is great as the leprechaun, while Jennifer Aniston shines in her cinematic debut. If you like campy scary flicks, watch Leprechaun. Dan O'Grady goes back to his home in North Dakota in 1983 after visiting his birthplace, Ireland, where he kidnapped a leprechaun and stole his pot of gold. After O'Grady buried the treasure, he found out that the bad leprechaun had followed him home and killed his wife. O'Grady uses a four-leaf clover to stop the leprechaun's magic and put him in a box. He had a stroke before he could set him on fire.
J. D. Redding and his daughter Tory rent the O'Grady home ten years later. Nathan Murphy, Alex, 10, and Ozzie Jones help paint the home. Ozzie misidentifies the leprechaun's screams for help as a child. Using an ancient four-leaf clover, he frees the leprechaun. Ozzie learns from the leprechaun that he's an Irish shoemaker seeking his fortune in America. Ozzie sees a rainbow after failing to convince others he saw a leprechaun, hoping to find a pot of gold. Alex follows Ozzie because he could hurt himself. Before Ozzie, 100 gold coins appear magically. They conceal the riches in an ancient well after Ozzie swallows a coin to mend his brain.
J. D. gets tricked by the leprechaun on the farm into walking into a trap by the leprechaun's disguise as a cat, which causes him pain when he bites his hand. After Tory and the others take the leprechaun to the hospital, the leprechaun leaves on a tricycle. While Alex and Ozzie are checking the gold's purity in a pawn shop, the leprechaun kills the shopkeeper, Joe, for stealing his gold and then escapes after polishing Joe's shoes. A police officer pulls over the leprechaun on his way back to the farm because he is speeding in the go-kart he built for himself. The officer is pursued by the leprechaun into the woods, where the officer is shot and killed. After returning to the farm, the leprechaun begins searching for the pot of gold by polishing the shoes of each he encounters. Following their visit to the hospital, the group returns to the farmhouse. Nathan goes outdoors to check the looting and is injured by a bear trap placed by the leprechauns. In the open air, the mob swarms the leprechaun and beats him senseless with clubs and rocks.
As soon as they find a gun in the house, the leprechaun is ambushed and shot many times. They attempt to leave the property after it becomes clear that it won't work, but the leprechaun has already wrecked the engine of the vehicle. After crashing the car with the go-kart, the leprechaun causes the group to be in fear until Ozzie reveals to the leprechaun that he and Alex found the treasure chest. Tory is the one who descends into the well and retrieves the bag, (blog post) which she subsequently presents to the leprechaun. They make their way to the hospital, certain that the worst is behind them. During the process of counting his fortune, the leprechaun learns that he is short one coin since Ozzie ate it. He threatens them since he is under the impression that they have tricked him, but Ozzie stops him by explaining that O'Grady had a stroke and was sent to a nursing home. The group is able to distract the leprechaun's attention when they throw dirty shoes at him. As a result, the leprechaun is compelled to go shine the shoes while Tory gets into her vehicle and drives away. Tory travels to the home in order to get information on how to kill the leprechaun.
The leprechaun disguises himself as O'Grady and visits the elderly people in the home. While Tory is fleeing, the leprechaun follows him into an elevator and throws O'Grady's body down the shaft. The farm's late caretaker, O'Grady, forewarns the young woman that the only way to kill the leprechaun is with a four-leaf clover, of which there happens to be a plentiful patch just outside the farm's gates. Tory returns to the farm in search of a four-leafed clover, but the leprechaun assaults her there, forcing Nathan and Ozzie to come to her rescue. When the leprechaun returns to get the remaining gold coin, he is badly injured by Ozzie, who admits eating it. Before the leprechaun can kill Ozzie, Alex takes a four-leaf clover that Tory found, sticks it to a piece of gum, and launches it into the leprechaun's mouth. The leprechaun's skeleton, after tumbling into the well, emerges and demands, "I want my gold." Nathan uses gasoline to set fire to both items after returning the leprechaun to the well. Tory and her father are reconciled, she marries Nathan, and the two have a child when the police arrive. It's well-known that George Lucas had a hand in casting Warwick Davis in Willow. What's less well-known is the reason why. Apparently, Davis was under contract to Lucas, and Lucas had to give permission for him to appear in the movie. As a result, he was given a "special thanks" credit at the end of the film. But there was one problem: the Irish actor who was portraying the leprechaun, Warwick Davis, did not have a work visa.
